DESCRIPTION:OPEN TO ALL MAJORS!\nExplore the paleontology\, archaeology\, and ancient environment of the Lake Turkana Basin\, in East Africa’s Rift Valley\, made famous by the Leakey family and their colleagues for five decades of groundbreaking research into the origins of humankind. \nThe Origins Field School is offered as two distinct yet integrative programs: the Semester Abroad program\, offered in both the fall and spring\, and the Summer Program. You can attend either or both\, as the material covered is complementary rather than duplicative. Archaeologists work with Incident Management Teams\, Resource Advisers\, and fireline personnel to address concerns about the impacts of wildland fire\, fire operations\, and post-fire conditions on cultural resources. \nTARGET AUDIENCE: Archaeologists\, cultural resource managers\, and heritage Program Managers who frequently serve as Archaeologist or Resource Advisers. \nQUALIFICATION NOTE: Applicants do not need to possess a Red Card in order to attend the course. \nAPPLICATION: E-mail nominations to Linn Gassaway (linn.gassaway<AT>usda.gov) by COB Monday\, March 16\, 2020. \nNomination form is in the Featured Image to this event.
