Hi, first of all I apologize for my english, because I'm half italian and half swiss, and I'm not so familiar with , but I hope that I can make myself clear. I was told a few days ago by a "forum fellow" about the pretended pyramids. He gave me a huge number of internet sites, and pics as well. I started a very intense research on every single name claimed as "expert", and no one was involved before, in serious archeological surveys. In fact, every name was just linked to the bosniac "affair". All the sites I've checked have none of scientific "accreditation". So I begun to search on the mainstream sites, such archaeology.org where I found the letter from Dr. Hawass. I was sincerely happy to find out that I was not so ignorant about the so called ( World´s Biggest Pyramids). The bad thing is that a wery lot of people believe on every pseudotheory if it goes against the mainstream culture, and for that the net share a lot of responsability. So I'm glad to find people who cares to give good information about so silly fakes. Thank you very much.

Excellent summary, but I would just like to point out, if I may, that the ever-increasing element of nationalism / national pride refers to the Bosniaks (Bosnian moslems or atheists who are descendents of Bonsian moslems), not the Croats. The Bosnian Croats tend to think the pyramid is a hoax, which it is. Whereas in many Bosniak circles, and most alarmingly in Bosniak media, it is anathema to question the validity of Osmanagic's ludicrous claims, despite the total lack of evidence or scientific rigour.

Hi,

just to let you know that the Bosnian scientist who told Colette Dowell that the "symbols" in the tunnel were recently carved is Nadija Nukic, Osmanagic's former chief geologist. She gave two weeks ago an interview to the magazine BHDani, where she confirmed that the carvings were recent, and made by a team worker during a pause. The worker himself wrote to the magazine last week, and said he had made them "for fun". So much for the "world's most ancient alphabet" -such was the claim of the Osmanagic team. Parts of this interview are translated here: http://irna.lautre.net/Nadija-Nukic-Osmanagic-has-driven.html

Regards, Irna

Nice, comprehensive article - it's strange how the popular media went for this in such a big way, and for so long. I think I fell for the Japanese one quite recently, quoting it in a post, without recalling the guy posting his future finds in the ground - I'm not sure why the BBC still have it up on their site, though they report later on Shinichi Fujimura.

There are a lot of similarities between the Bosnian Pyramid fraud and this hoax about Early Paleolithic culture in Japan
